On June 13, 2013, the Firm presented a seminar titled "An Overview of Consumer Protection Statutes" to attorneys and staff at the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, Inc. The seminar opened with a discussion concerning the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 U.S.C. §1692 et seq. and Florida's Consumer Collection Practices Act, Fla. Stat. Sec. 559.55, et seq. Attendees also learned about the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, 15 U.S.C. §1693 et seq., and its applicability to the consumer debt collection context.
