Newman v. Eduardo Meloni, P.A., 2020 WL 3052801 (S.D. Fla. June 5, 2020)

If Edoardo Meloni, P.A. d/b/a The Meloni Law Firm attempted to collect a debt from you between January 6, 2019 and January 6, 2020, you may benefit from the settlement of this class action lawsuit.

This case is titled Howard Newman v. Edoardo Meloni, P.A. d/b/a The Meloni Law Firm, Case No. 0:20-cv-60027 (S.D. Fla.).

A consumer sued Edoardo Meloni, P.A. (“Defendant”) alleging that the company failed to properly provide certain disclosures when attempting to collect debts, in violation of federal law.

A settlement will provide $5,000.00 (the “Fund”) in statutory damages to fully settle and release claims of all consumers from whom Defendant, between January 6, 2019 and January 6, 2020, attempted to collect consumer debts.

The Fund created by Defendant will be used to pay pro-rata settlement awards of at least $238 to all class members. Defendant separately will pay statutory damages to the named plaintiff, class counsel’s attorneys’ fees, costs, and expenses, as well as the costs of notice and administration of the settlement.

The Court granted preliminary approval to the settlement in June 2020.
