Cooper v. InvestiNet, LLC, 2021 WL 5815800 (S.D. Ind. Dec. 6, 2021)


If InvestiNet, LLC attempted to collect a debt from you in Indiana between June 9, 2020 and June 8, 2021, you may benefit from the settlement of this class action lawsuit.

This case is titled Cooper v. InvestiNet, LLC, Case No. 1:21-cv-01562-TWP-DML (S.D. Ind.).

A consumer sued InvestiNet, LLC (“Defendant”) alleging that the company disclosed private information regarding alleged debtors to a print and mail vendor, in violation of federal law. Defendant denies that it violated the law, and the Court did not decide who is right and who is wrong.
 
A settlement will provide $18,800.00 (the “Fund”) in statutory damages to fully settle and release claims of of members of the following class: all persons (a) with an Indiana address, (b) to which InvestiNet, LLC sent, or caused to be sent, a written debt collection communication, (c) in connection with the collection of a consumer debt, (d) from June 9, 2020 through June 8, 2021, (e) that was printed or mailed by CompuMail, Inc.

The Fund created by Defendant will be used to pay pro-rata settlement awards to all participating class members. Defendant separately will pay statutory damages to the named plaintiff, class counsel’s attorneys’ fees, costs, and expenses, as well as the costs of notice and administration of the settlement.

The Court granted preliminary approval to the settlement on December 6, 2021 and granted final approval on April 14, 2022.
